RLS -THE DREADED DREAM

THE DREADED DREAM

-

By- Tanya Kainaat

Rowing my boat across the stream The stars lighting my path I was headed towards a dream A land of treasures and eternal bliss. But as I stepped into the cold I found no light or flowers No gems or showers of gold Just a darkness draining me of hope. I watched the leaves turn brown And the roses dying And with a frown, Heard the bare trees crying. Where was the peace I never got Where was the life I never had After the numerous wars I fought, I found myself alone in a void. Then I looked to the sky And in the darkness, amid the smoke I heard my heart cry As I saw your tears rain down. Tried to reach out a hand But my world was ripped from me Wondered if I could withstand My home becoming a wasteland. Look at me, I wept But your broken eyes turned away Tried to remind you of promises kept But I now belonged to the land of the lost. Anguished, I felt myself going under The deep dark abyss called me I fell into a gentle slumber An eternal rest filled with daydreams. And yet, despite the repose And the calm and the quiet My heart still turns to those Who keep me alive in their chests. Flowers on a stone And cards on tables Don't make me feel less alone Like tears and happy memories do.
