“Where there is unity, there is always victory.” – Publius Cyrus On Monday, 31st October 2022, on the occasion of National Unity Day, the Raleigh Literary Society organized an oath-taking ceremony at the Department of English, AMU. The oath-taking was headed by Prof. Samina Khan from the Department of English and was attended by students as well as various faculty members from the department. National Unity Day is observed in remembrance of the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The ceremony was hosted by the Secretary of the Raleigh Literary Society Abdullah Parwaiz, who greeted the students and the faculty members in attendance, before inviting Professor Samina Khan, acting-Chairperson, Department of English to shed some light on the importance of unity and to enlighten the audience on the figure Sardar Vallabhai Patel, in honour of whose day of birth National Unity Day is observed. Prof. Khan informed the audience about the deeds and ideologies of freedom-fighter Sardar Vallabhai Patel. Following that, the actual oath-taking took place, with Prof. Khan delivering the words of the pledge for Unity. To wrap up the ceremony, the Joint Secretary of Raleigh Literary Society, Utkarsh Saini, delivered the vote of thanks and bid farewell to the audience. The event closed with the National Anthem.
